Miscellaneous Kisses

In 2021, I published a tiny artist edition of around 50 copies with deluxe packaging for a Blu-ray. The packaging includes screenshots and a long essay I wrote about a non-existent film called Miscellaneous Kisses directed by an artist named Sadie Tang, who is a character in my novel Any Other City (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2023). I commissioned writer/artist John Elizabeth Stintzi (JES) to do the design work.

If you’re interested, you can read my essay about the film Miscellaneous Kisses on a gorgeous page created by writer/scholar Melissa Adler, who helped bring this project into being.

podcast

For a couple of years, I helmed a podcast called t4t, which was about writing while trans. I had episodes featuring Casey Plett, John Elizabeth Stintzi, Kama La Mackerel, Vivek Shraya, McKenzie Wark, Torrey Peters, Bishakh Som, Morgan M Page, Cassia Hardy, Kai Cheng Thom, Megan Milks, Jeanne Thornton, and Ryka Aoki.

music

I release solo music under the name lo-fi lioness. I also write songs for and play guitar in Certain Women, an indie rock band composed of queer and trans musicians. We traffic in the musical genre ‘Defiant Beauty.’

Miscellaneous words

Whatever Happened to Hazel Jane? (a newsletter)

I’ve decided to steer clear of cultivating a public social media presence because I don’t like how it warps my mind. Instead, I’ve opted for an irregular newsletter. My favourite piece so far is “‘Yes, I’m a Witch’: Lessons on Writing (and Living) from Yoko Ono,” a talk I gave to UBC Creative Writing's MFA Summer Residency students in 2022.

“t4t triptych: the concept, the erotic, and the technique” (an essay)

An expansive essay published in TSQ Now that covers an array of topics, including trans literature, pleasure, information studies, trauma, healing, and writing.
